Stocking Stuffers for Travelers Under $10

A Luggage Lock
One of the best stocking stuffer ideas for travelers

I was given this by my godmother as a Christmas gift before I embarked on my study abroad journey in 2017 and it has proved super useful over the years. It’s ideal for the budding traveler who might not already have one or really any traveler who will not have their luggage with them at all times, like in instances where a hotel holds your baggage before or after check out.

A Travel Jewelry Case

I gave these as gifts to my bridal party and didn’t buy myself one and have been kicking myself since my wedding. These are SO handy! Even if the traveler you’re shopping for isn’t a huge jewelry wearer, they probably have a couple of things they bring with them that just jangle around their toiletry bag (just me?). The letter is customizable.

A mini first aid kit

This might not be the sexiest Christmas present your traveler will receive but it is one of the more useful stocking stuffer ideas for travelers. Even if they have bought for themselves in the past, this is an item that needs to be regularly purchased over the years as items inside expire, so you’re almost guaranteeing the usefulness of your gift. And looking out for their well being. Win/win.

A Money Belt

If you’re looking for a stocking stuffer for a traveler who will be visiting a big city in Europe at any time in the upcoming year, this money belt is an excellent practical gift. I wore one faithfully through Rome, Florence, and Barcelona, some of the worst areas for pickpockets. And helping your loved one avoid pickpockets is the gift that keeps on giving.

Compression Socks

Look, I’m all for giving people gifts that they will actually use! So continuing the trend of non-sexy gifts, compression socks are a totally practical and helpful gift to give a loved one who will be on some longer flights in the coming year. I am seriously cringing at the number of flights I took in my early 20s without these babies and would have really appreciated someone gifting them to me.

Portable Footrest

Continuing on the trend of things I desperately wish someone had gifted me in my early travel is a portable footrest. This baby is a GAME CHANGER on long flights on basic economy. It’s super light weight and clips around your tray table and allows you to adjust the hammock to where your feet actually fall. Like seriously, this is so Basic Economy B approved it isn’t even funny.

Travel Sized Facial Sunscreen

Continuing my trend of items that I would actually love to receive in my stocking (@ Mom if you’re reading this), is my favorite facial sunscreen. The sunscreen actually works super well but the small and slick container fits into any small space and is one of the best stocking stuffer ideas for travelers.

A Pashmina Scarf
A gray pashmina scarf, one of my favorite stocking stuffer ideas of travelers.

I received this as a Christmas gift from an aunt who travels frequently and promised that I’d love it. And I did. Pashmina is a really nice light weight material that packs down well in your luggage but is still thick enough that it can add a nice layer of warmth. I always have mine in my carry-on so I can use it as an extra layer on long flights that need to get chilly. It’s also great if you’re visiting sites in Rome or Vietnam for example, that require you to have covered shoulders.

Packing Cubes

I really should have just titled this: “things that are essentials in my regular traveling that I wish someone had given me sooner“. I started using packing cubes a couple of years ago and have never gone back! They’re great for squeezing as much as possible into a carry-on but they’re also excellent for road trips or camping because they pack down so nicely.

An Inflatable Neck Pillow

I will acknowledge that the stuffed neck pillows are probably more comfortable, but they are bulky as heck and will take up half of your precious carry-on space or just be generally a pain to travel with. That honestly negates any of their use in my opinion. I love my inflatable neck pillow because I actually bring it on every trip since it packs down so small and light. It packs down so light it’ll fit nicely in a stocking.

A Mini Travel Fan

This is a great gift for a traveler in your life who is very temperature sensitive, or really anyone who is traveling to somewhere like Italy during the summer months or any warm destination. They do not do AC anything like we do in the states. This little fan packs down super nice but could make all the difference in keeping your loved one cool. Again, the gift that keeps on giving.

Waterproof Hiking Gloves

If you’re looking for stocking stuffer ideas of travelers, your traveler is likely someone who treks across the globe multiple times throughout the year, not just in the warm summer months. These waterproof hiking gloves are excellent for anyone visiting somewhere like Scotland in April, or Patagonia in May. They’re also great for use outside of just traveling as well, making them an extra practical gift.

Tile Bluetooth tracker

Seasoned travelers swear by these trackers! Seriously, traveler after traveler will tell you that they always put a Tile Bluetooth tracker in their checked bags so that they always know where they are, basically eliminating the potential catastrophe of lost luggage. If you’re like my husband and misplace your keys every other day, they’re also excellent for use outside of travel. We love a multi-purpose gift!

Portable Charger

One of my least favorite parts about traveling is the game you start to play when your phone battery starts to get low. Do you put yours on airplane mode? Does your partner? Stop taking pictures to conserve battery? Screenshot maps instead of having the navigation app open? This portable charger is slim and convenient to pack and ends that problem for weary travelers everywhere.
